5 Reasons to visit the Homebuilding & Renovating Show - Koivu Kitchens

Wondering whether the HBR is worth a visit this year? We say yes!

Whether you’re only just beginning to dream about your home renovation project or you’re well into the design stage, we highly recommend a visit to the Homebuilding and Renovating Show. Taking place in 7 UK locations throughout 2024, you’ll find a mixture of national and local exhibitors as well as plenty of helpful experts.

We’ll be heading to the first show of the year, from the 13th – 14th January in Farnborough. So while we’re getting everything packed up and ready to go, we thought we’d round up a few reasons to try to convince you to go along to a Homebuilding & Renovating Show near you.

1. Inspiration for your designs

From paint colours to cladding, worktop options to water features. Simply wandering through the exhibition halls, soaking up the atmosphere, will leave you buzzing with inspiration and ideas. It might be that you’re looking for specific tips and tricks to help with one element of your project, or perhaps you’re going in with your mind open to a world of possibilities.

Either way, take a notepad and a tote bag and you’ll be sure to fill them both with a myriad of information, samples and freebies. Then you can head home, digest everything you’ve seen and reinvigorate those plans.

There are over 180 exhibitors. So who knows? You might even come with an amazing idea you hadn’t thought of before.

2. Invaluable tips and advice

Do you ever wish you had a specialist on hand to talk you through some of the finer points of your renovation plans? To give you up-to-date information on planning procedures, financing options or common pitfalls?

With experts from the world of interior design and project planning, eco-friendly methods and sustainable building as well as specific disciplines such as kitchen design (ahem!), budgeting, conservatories and self builds. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to planning who to speak to.

So grab that programme or go online and makes some notes about who you want to make contact with. That way you’ll be able to plan your time at the show effectively and make sure you don’t miss out on anyone, or anything, important.

3. Find out what’s new

Building materials, techniques and technologies are ever changing. So what better way to find out about the next, newest and biggest things in the industry than from those at the forefront of it. With talks and workshops about sustainability and eco-friendly building as well as the opportunity to talk one-on-one with those companies that are positioning themselves as the future.

Whether you’re looking for information to help make your home more energy efficient, or you want to find the most innovative ideas and products designed to make your home smarter. You’ll find exhibitors showcasing their products and a wealth of information to help inform your plans, designs or conversations with your architect.

4. View and compare options

While you can browse the glossy interiors magazines and pin beautiful picture on Pinterest to your heart’s content, nothing beats being able to see and feel a product in the real world.

Visiting the various exhibitor stands at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show will not only give you the opportunity to see how those on-screen colours look in real life. But you’ll be able to run your hand over the different surfaces, try out various mechanisms and really ask questions about how the various products stand up to real life.

You can even compare and contrast the various exhibitors’ products.

Time spent in the exhibition hall will allow you to really dig deep and spend time thinking about what you like and want, giving you to opportunity to engross yourself in properly researching every element of your build or renovation.

5. Meet the team behind Koivu

Last but not least. Did we mention we’ll be there? So make sure you prioritise a trip to stand L120 to say ‘Hi’ to us and find out more.

We’ll have a full, small kitchen set up so if you’re interested to see how a Koivu kitchen looks in real life, this is a great opportunity. What’s more, Doug and Keren will be there to show you the details and little extras that make our kitchens so special.

We love to chat about plywood and why we think you can beat it when it comes to kitchen cabinetry. As well as giving you the latest info on VOCs and the science behind why we can confidently state that our kitchens are some of the healthiest on the market.

Plus, we can give you plenty of information about why bespoke is almost always better when it comes to a new kitchen and how we make sure our design process will result in the perfect kitchen for you.
