Why Koivu?

Why Koivu?

  About your kitchen

Unlike most fitted kitchens, which are put together from ready-made standard-sized units, a Koivu kitchen is all about YOU.

We start by learning all about you:  How tall are you? Do you use a lot of spices? Do you like to entertain? Does your kitchen double as a home office? Do you have a dog? And so on.

  Design

Koivu’s design process is similar in approach to an architect’s.

To ensure that you are fully involved in shaping your kitchen, our team will prepare two sets of plans for your consideration. They’ll listen to your ideas, then apply their own creativity. Design is what wins us business. That’s why we take it so seriously.

  Truly bespoke

Many companies use the word bespoke but continue to use standard-size products and an inflexible approach to design. At Koivu, bespoke isn’t just a word we use to sell kitchens. We really do make-to-measure. So, if a taller customer needs a worktop 97cm high, that’s exactly what they get.

  Materials

Unlike the veneered chipboard or MDF you’ll find in most fitted kitchens, we use 18mm Finnish birch ply for its durability, rigidity, moisture resistance and the crisp, clean lines it produces. And similarly, our hinges, drawer runners etc. are of the highest quality available and come with a lifetime guarantee.

Compromising on materials for short-term profit simply isn’t our style.

  Sustainability

We ensure all our plywood is responsibly sourced and for every kitchen we build, we plant  ten trees via a woodland trust scheme.

But our approach to sustainability doesn’t end there.

While the average fitted kitchen lasts a surprisingly short 7 years, Koivu kitchens are designed for durability. They can be removed, re-used in another location, up-cycled or even resold.

Anything else would be a waste.
